Galvanizing processes
1. Degreasing
What is degreasing for? The purpose of degreasing is to provide a clean metal surface, free of grease and oil, suitable for pickling. Degreasing can be alkaline or acidic. If the grease is not removed from the metal parts, a defect is generated which we call picas or absence of zinc in the part. Degreasing is controlled by means of pH and concentration of active points.
2. Stripping
The speed and control of stripping depend on the iron concentration and the hydrochloric acid concentration, and are seen through the Kleingarn curve.
3. Rinsing
The purpose of rinsing is to prevent carryover of acid solution and trace iron into the flux bath.
4. Fluxing
The purpose of the flux bath is to facilitate the metallurgical reaction between the zinc and the steel part and to help prevent re-oxidation of the pickled part.
5. Drying
The purpose of rinsing is to avoid the entrainment of acid solution and iron traces into the flux bath.
6. Hot dip galvanizing
The purpose of galvanizing is to provide a layer of protection to the coated steel, thus extending its service life and deterioration over time.
7. Cooling
The purpose of cooling is to prepare the piece for the passivation process, so that at temperatures above 40 degrees the passivate becomes inactive and no longer fulfills its protective function, in addition to generating an opaque appearance and white veil. Chloride concentrations are controlled in these baths.
8. Passivation
Passivation is the formation of a relatively inert film on the surface of a material (often a metal), which masks it against the action of external agents.
9. Inspection
Thanks to the galvanized alloy, storage can be done outdoors without fear of oxidation.

Atmospheric corrosion resistance depends on the environment to which the product is exposed. In more corrosive areas, the use of the duplex system is recommended for more effective protection.
